The graph above shows the different modes of transport used to travel to and from work in one European city in 1960, 1980 and 2000.
The bar chart illustrates how citizens in European city transformed to work in four main vehicles in 1960, 1980 and 2000. Overall, it can be seen from the graph that the proportion of travellers traveled by car increased significantly whereas there was a sharp decrease in the percentage of people commuted by foots and bike in the given period.
In terms of car, the percentage of travellers in 1960 accounted for the lowest to the four modes of transportation, at just over 5%. But then this figure reached a peak at 40% in 2000, becoming the most prevalent vehicle. In contrast, the proportion of people commuted by foot occupied the highest figure at roughly 35% in 1960 before gradually dropped to a half in 1980 and approximately 10% in 2000.
Besides, there was 25% travellers utilized bike for their moving purpose, which was the second common vehicle in 1960 decreased sharply to around 6% in 2000, becoming the lowest figure of the four. As for bus, after seeing approximately 15% travellers using bus in 2000, there was roughly 18% in 196 and over 25% in 20 years later.Attachments:
