The bar charts compare what graduates and postgraduates who did not work full time did in the UK after finishing college in 2008.
Overall, the majority of graduate students who did not have full time jobs chose to continue their studies. Additionally, doing part-time jobs and studying further are the most common choices for UK postgraduates who did not work full time.
For graduates, the number of those who did not go into full time work decided to continue studying was highest, at more than 29,500 students, compared to only 3,500 chose to do voluntary work. About 16,200 graduate students were unemployed, which was slightly lower than the figure for those having part-time jobs.
For postgraduate students, there were more than 2,500 and 2,700 postgraduates who did not work full time took part in part-time jobs and continue their higher education respectively. In contrast, the figure for students working voluntarily was lowest, at exactly 345 students. Meanwhile, approximately 1,600 postgraduates who did not go into full time work had no jobs.Attachments:
