The line graph illustrates the amount of goods transported in the United Kingdom buy four different modes of transport from 1994 to 2002.
Overall, there was a rise in the quantities of goods transported buy road, water and pipeline while the quantities of goods transported by rail declined slightly. The amount of goods transported by road gained the highest position, while the lowest was by pipeline in the whole period of 28 years.
The amount of goods transported by road kept remaining its top rank with 70 million tonnes in 1974 and nearly 100 million tonnes in 2002; while the lowest position was by pipeline ,in 1974 and 2002, it only reached above 5 million tonnes and 22 million tonnes respectively. The amount of goods transported by water remained at around 40 million tonnes from 1974 to 1978 then dramatically raised to nearly 60 million tonnes in 1982 after which it plateaued for about 20 years before starting raised sharply again to reached its peak at 68 million tonnes by the year 2002.
The quantities of goods transported by rail fluctuated throughout the 28 years period although it remained constantly at about 40 million tonnes in both 1974 and 2002 with decreases in quantity in between the years.

@Chau nguyen, mình thấy trong bài mẫu người ta toàn viết ‘the amount of goods transported by…” mình nghĩ ‘quantities’ phải là amount chứ sao lại number??? bạn giải thích giúp mình với, có thể dùng cả the number of như the amount of và the quantities of như nhau được không? Cám ơn :)

Thường thì quantity và number sẽ dùng cho danh từ đếm được số nhiều, và amount dùng cho danh từ không đếm được. Mình nhớ có một số trường hợp nào đó người ta vẫn dùng amount cho danh từ đếm được số nhiều, nhưng cụ thể thì mình không rõ lắm, bạn hỏi kĩ lại nhé :D
Theo quan điểm của mình thì nên dùng number. :3
