The consumption of the world’s resources (oil, and water etc.) is increasing at a dangerous rate. What are causes and solutions?
Answer:
It is a fact that the global consumption of natural resources is on the rise with rapid speed. There are a numbers of reasons behind this phenomenon and several solutions should be proposed to tackle this problem.
There are two primary reasons why people are consuming resources from the earth at an alarming rate. One reason is that developing nations are now using more energy and gasoline to produce more electricity and to develop the transport services industry with the purpose of expanding the economy. Also, individuals consume more natural resources with the similar consumption to developed countries for private cars or electricity usage in homes for example. Another reason is that it is costly to develop renewable energy. This source of energy would seem unpopular with voters because it is unreasonable that they have to pay more while original resources are still available.
However, measures could be taken by both governments and individuals to reduce the amount of world’s resources consumed. Firstly, authorities could impose higher taxes on oil, water and other natural resources. People will think more carefully if they have to pay more for what they consume such as water meters or electricity consumption. Furthermore, governments or enterprises could invest in developing renewable sources of energy like wind or solar power which are both environmentally friendly and cheap if we learn the generating process from developed nations that are successful in this industry. Also, individuals should enhance their behaviors and thoughts not to waste resources. For instance, people must turn off the lights when going out the rooms or not leave the taps running if not used.
In conclusion, it is clear that there are various reasons for increasing amount of global resources consumed and some measures need to be taken to reduce this issue.
