People in the community can buy cheaper products nowadays. Do advantages outweigh disadvantages?

Over the past few decades, globalization and internationalization have been forstered in leaps and bounds, leading to the advent of many mutual economic zones. Thanks to this, citizens of each country have opportunities to consume low-price goods. From my perspective, everything has double-edged impacts and this phenomenon is not an exception.
On the one hand, consumers can buy high quality products at competitive prices from both internal and external suppliers these days. As a result of liberalizing commerce, an integral part of economic community, domestic companies are able to import raw materials at lower prices, which reduces the price of final products significantly. Moreover, these firms can take full advantages of this trend by outsourcing their product lines for abundant labor forces such as China. Not only their own products, but citizens from these countries are offered a multitude of international goods with reasonal prices as well. European Union, for instance, is the good illustration, where its members have the right to freely travel to each other and purchase goods with tax incentives.
On the other hand, nothwithstanding aforementioned benefits, this kind of cooperation consists of some potential risks that need our consideration. In today’s highly competitive global market, an array of producers utilize toxic subtances to create substandard food at their cheapest prices, which is extremely detrimental to people’s health. As an example, overuse of presavative to prolong the freshness of fruits has inceased the proportion of cancer in recent years. Last but no least, a massive influx of foreign companies in a community may harm the development of small domestic enterprises if they fail in this fierce competition. The bankruptcy of such business can result in serious financial crisis, which needs intervention of governments.
In conclusion, although regional alliance has both pros and cons, I believe its merits surpass the demerits. Participants should propose wise national policies to acquire the best benefits from such community.
