It has been suggested that all young adults should be required to undertake a period of unpaid work helping people in the community. Would the drawbacks be greater than benefits to the community and the young adults themselves?

People have different views about whether the youth ought to be suggested to take on unpaid work assisting citizens in the society or not. While there are disadvantages to this point of view, I believe that its advantages are more significant.
On the one hand, there are drawbacks to this opinion. Firstly, adults may lose their human rights while being forced to work in the community. This is because a child’s top priority is to study, so he should not be embarked on working for any reasons. Furthermore, the period of working as an volunteer is likely to deprive adults of learning at school or at home. For instance, some children do not have enough time for their assignments on account of doing unpaid work such as cleaning up the beaches, helping the poor.
On the other hand, it seems to me that it is beneficial for a juvenile to do jobs without having salaries. The first one is that children would obtain a lot of real experience and practical knowledge to chase for future career. Children may gain some soft skills in life when doing voluntary work such as problem solving, time managing, which may bring them various opportunities for perspective employment for years to come. Secondly, doing the unpaid work is able to build and complete a child’s characteristics. This may nurture a promising and reliable child who can take responsibilities and organize himself, as well as contribute wholeheartedly to the development of a nation.
In conclusion, there may be some negative aspects for children to do unpaid work, which capable of taking a heavy toll on a child’s study. However, I believe that the benefits for a child’s future really outweight the drawbacks.
