My name is Thanh. I am a CEO, at the same time I am an English teacher at my centre. I am going to share my experience in my English language learning experience, special speaking skills. Before learning English at Hue University of Foreign Language, I was unaware of English language. I had knowledge about grammar but I did not have speaking power, I did not have any vocabulary, I did not have confidence, even I could not speak with any person, I did not have correct concepts about any thing and I had hesitations in speaking English. I did not have any speaking skills, so I was feeling lots of problems in English. However, after joining HUCFL, my life suddenly changed, and I got each and every thing that I always needed such as confidence, pronunciation and English skills power. I felt a great change in myself.
Firstly, my teachers who teach at university provide me knowledge, skills and awareness in learning process. They also guide me the method to approach English learning through my self, my idol, my friends and the Internet. It’s extremely grateful to them. At school, I gain confidence by giving presentations in the class and at school. We also do so many interesting activities. In addition, I found the foreign teachers at many English centre in order to learn speaking skills. My experience when learning with the foreigners is unique methods. Listening their talking to practice listening and speaking skills at the same time. The equipment and condition is very good, thus it is easy to acquire. Moreover, there are many handsome guys who registered at centre. It makes more exciting for me. Despite its many strengths there are a number of small, but important weaknesses is higher tuition fee.
Secondly, learning from by myself is maybe best way in order to improve English skills quickly. I found many methods to apply the most reasonable method for myself. I had locked myself in my room and speak up English sentences in front of the mirror. One of my parents’ friends, who visited to my house, they though I had a mental problem. The restroom is my best place in order to practice my voice. Actually, it is a strange thing, but I felt I spoke in a clear beautiful soprano. Moreover, I updated some hit English songs and I recorded my voice via the telephone. It seems to me that it is a practical and effective way to learn new vocabularies and their pronunciation. In addition, I do not forger take note of what new and impressive words and common mistakes in my 2 note-books named “my wonderful words” and “my dear mistakes” respectively. I always have them with me all the time in order to read them when I free without waste time.
Thirdly, after school class, I usually come to Brown-eyes or DMZ Bar to communicate with the foreigners who come from many countries in the world. I gained many benefits from them such as language, culture and society during conversation. Moreover, I organized a team on the walking street Nguyen Dinh Chieu include many members who are enthusiastic and patient in English learning. We created the opportunities and situations in order to strike up conversations with the foreigners. It is motivated and inspired to learn English in a friendly and active environment. However, my friends and I encountered some difficult visitors with many challenged and unexpected situations.
Last but not least, process of learning English is extremely long and difficult. Actually, there was a time I was bored and tired of learning. I pasted my idol’s image whom Dr. Truong Vien on my studying corner. When see his picture, I felt motivated to keep go on my studying. I learnt from him about the passion, enthusiasm, thoroughness and inspiration in his works. Foremost, I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to D.r Truong Vien for your instruction, patience and infinite knowledge and for giving me the precious opportunity to do this wonderful work.
