People in all modern societies use drugs but today’s youth are experimenting with both legal and illegal drugs, and at an increasingly early age. Some sociologists claim that parents and other members of society often set a bad example.
Discuss the causes and some effects of widespread drug use by young people in modern day society. Make recommendations to help fight youth drug abuse.

Drug abuse among young people who live in the modern societies is one of serious problems that the society is facing today. Some experts believe that parents and other members of communities are responsible for its increase usage. This essay will analyze the causes and effects of taking drugs and make some recommendations to limit this abuse.
The very first reason in drug adoption in youth is due to their own family, parents and surroundings. These youngsters might loss the cozy family, lack love and care because their parents engross in the business or their parents’ marriage might not be working out well, or could be in a divorce stage. The way that teens release mental stresses and felling of boredom is the drug consumption. In fact, in the USA, among teens with major depression, 34.6% report using drugs. Secondly, children see their parents and other adults smoking cigarettes as a daily habit, so they often follow the same thing. Another compelling reason is curiosity. The desire to try new things, explore the world will make young people to take drugs.
There are clearly risks involved in using drugs and negative effects can be experienced. One of the serious consequences of abusing drugs is the permanent and irreversible brain damage. The experts show that drug use can cause emotional problems such as anxiety, mood swings, suicidal thoughts and schizophrenia. According to a recent survey, teens who abuse drugs are more likely than teens do not abuse drugs to engage in delinquent behaviors such as fighting and stealing. As a result of the drug addiction, teenagers’ short-term and long-term memory will be strongly impacted that lead to problems with learning and memory later in life.
In conclusion, I recommend that the possible way to combat this problem is to educate young people about the hazards of drug use. In addition, parents should pay more attention to their kids to make sure that detrimental stimulants keep away from them.
