Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

There are different views about whether the punishments for each type of crime should be fixed . In spite of some advantages of fixed punishments . I believe that it would be better if we judge each crime individually .
On the one hand , it is good to have a consistent punishment for each crime . Firstly , it is easy to create a fair justice system . For example, in Indonesia , drug criminal will take the capital punishment no matter who they are or the amount of drug . Furthermore , everyone is aware of the punishment for each crime ,therefore, fixed punishment could deter crime rate . For instance , people may not kidnap anyone if they know that they would be taken into prison because of doing that .
On the other hand , I would argue that the circumstances of crime and the criminal’s motivation should be an influence on the punishment . For example , stealing to feed their family in comparison with stealing for their profit . In my opinion , people who commit a crime for their own business because of their laziness and their selfishness would take a stricter punishment . Additionally, this would lead to humane law system , we would better educate them to be a good citizen after their punishment finish .
In conclusion , although fixed punishments have their own advantages , it seem to me crime should be judged both the circumstances and the motivation into account
