Topic: Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school. Do the advantages of this outweight the disadvantages?
Some specialists proposed that children should start learning a new language apart from their mother tongue since elementary school better than later at secondary school. While I agree that children can learn foreign language well even at secondary school, I believe it would be better for children to learn at primary school.
On the one hand, everyone can learn a new language at any age and so as children.. When children are in secondary school, they are more likely to get more serious with their studies and understand why they need to study new language as well as developping their interest in it. Furthermore, at this age, children are normally expert at their mother tongue with good understanding in both writing and speaking hence they would not be confused or misunderstood with both languages.
However, I would argue that the benefits of preparing children to learn foreign language at elementary school outweight the disadvantages above. A lot of researches have shown that children in this stage can develop a special skill of learning languages, especially foreign languages. Around this time, teacher can easily and effectively correct their pronunciation as well as teaching basic grammar and vocabulary. Eventually, children can quickly familiarize that language and can reach to native level better later. In addition, scientists also proved that learning more than one language can improve one’s intelligence, particularly with children. Moreover, at this period, there are not much homework or paperwork of many subjects for children to finish so they can have a lot of spare time to learn a new language.
In conclusion, I believe that learning a foreign language is always essential for everyone so they should start to learn it the sooner the better, and in children case, the best time is primary school.Cố gắng luyện tập thêm bạn nhé!
