In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year
between finishing high school and starting university studies.

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decided to do
this.

Some people believed that the adolescents should take a gap year to get a
job or go on a trip before applying to university. While there are
drawbacks to work or travel straight after school, there are also good
reasons why it might be a beneficial decision.

On the one hand, there are two fundamental reasons why this option is
disadvantageous to some extent. Firstly, a number of high school seniors
who choose to seek a job for a year have tendency to prefer earning money
instead of continuing higher education. However, this will lead the youth
to face some difficult problems in their future career because a handful of
companies require certificates and take into account their academic
performances. In addition, young graduates may start their professional
career later than their fellows who do not decide to work or go on a trip
upon graduating from school. As a result, they will get promoted later.

Although this decision has many cons, there still exist some noteworthy
pros. To begin with, working or traveling gives countless opportunities to
graduating students to gain a lot of real experience. Indeed, for example,
the juveniles spend a year traveling abroad will have chance to not only
boost their language skills but also overcome the language barrier
challenge. Secondly, taking a gap year out makes contributions to
clarification their discipline and career in the future. They can do
different jobs during this period, and discover what may be suitable for
them.

In conclusion, I believe that there are many advantages for starting work
or traveling before going to university, despite having some negative
aspects took into consideration.
