Chữa bài IELTS Task 2
Some students take one year off between finishing school and going to university, in order to travel or to work. Do you think advantages outweigh disadvantages?
Over the past few decades, education for the youth has been always a foremost concern among the public. Some adopt a view that students should continue to studying at university after high school, opponents make a case for taking a gap year. Although both have their own benefits, I believe the former way never submerges the latter one.
On the one hand, students need to continuously learn to absorb knowledge more easily and efficiently. Indeed, university usually provides job-oriented knowledge that is essential for students’ career path; however, if students take a year off, it is extremely hard to learn these useful lessons well. Moreover, at early age, adolescents’ mind are impressionable, so the desire to go back school may be less appealing after experiencing every walk of life, which has negative impacts on future job opportunity.
On the other hand, taking time off is really necessary for students after a long time of primary and high school. Firstly, it is important for pupils to witness and compare what they learn from school with real life. As a result, part-time jobs are a good stepping stone to apply theoretical knowledge and practice soft skills, paving the way for choosing major at university after students realize what they passionate. Secondly, travel is also beneficial for peaking the young’s curiosity. They can broaden their horizon by watching national historic resorts and natural legacies through their own lens, which was previously on the map in geography classes.
In conclusion, notwithstanding some problems of taking a gap year, its merits are untold. From my perspective, students should spend a small part of their school life to explore the world, but also concentrate on long-term education afterward.Attachments:
