Topic: In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.

Young people around the world are quite familiar with “Gap year”. It means the time between finishing high school and starting university studies that they spend to work temporarily, travel to the new place or take part in a social campaign. This essay will discuss about the advantages and disadvantages which they can face to join those activies.
Nowadays, parrents have trend to encourage their children to taste the real life because of its benefit we are forseeable. For instance, taking a part-time job can help you achieve valuable reality and socialize with new environment that high school did not bring to you. Moreover, those experiences also help you to have brilliant curriculum vitae and give good impression to the employer. Even though you do a small job, you can earn a little money that you could use to go travelling new places, taste new delicious food and explore the cultures that you have never known before. When you join and work as a volunteer, you will have opportunity to make friend with other people. This work also help you to realize and appreciate what you have but other is lack of them. From that, your heart will open and become sympathy to the miserble.
On the other hand, gap year also has some disavantages that we need to consider. When you come back university, you may feel you are slower than your friends and easy to become bored with study. To catch up with the others, you may study harder and some times you will be very tired, which effects your learning efficiency. Travelling needs not to much money but quite difficult for persons just graduated from secondary school.
Gap year is becoming popular in young people because of its advantages. This is a rest time but not an ending before we continue our future path. It is promted to spread in our life but we need to plan to use it properly.
