Topic: Some people believe government should spend money on building train and subway lines to reduce traffic congestion. Others think that building more and wider roads is the better way to reduce traffic congestion.

Whether to invest on public transport like train and subway or build more road for private cars is a hotly debated question about the best solution for current transportation system. In my point of view, this two solutions all might help to solve the traffic problem but in the long time public transport shows more advantages.
On the one hand, proponents of road rely on the immediate effect and financial capacity of many big cities to make their cases. Firstly, if government invest in new system or new kind of transportation citizen will need time to adapt to the change, in some cases, people may be not willing to drop their current vehicles to travel on the public train. Moreover, expanding road could be based on the current old roads, thus need less resources and save more money.
On the other hand, train and subway are the best answer for the government looking for a long-term solution. It is clear that if the authorities choose to build roads to tackle the traffic problem, someday there will be no room available for the expansion as it already take too much space required for building and housing. The investment cost for road therefore go up sharply, which is no longer a good investment. Train or subway, however, can take more time and money but there would be economic scale when more people use the system. In addition, these new public transportation not only carry more people but also allow people to travel in longer distant and shorter time.
In conclusion, the traffic problem is a hard question to answer. The government should to consider very carefully before making the investment as transportation is also an important factor in economic development of any nation and city.
