Some people think that the main purpose of schools is to teach children to be a good citizen or worker rather than to benefit them as individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that there are various of views about the main purpose of school education. While there is a school of thought that schools are developing student’s behaviour, I do the belief that the most vital responsible of schools is to deliver a lecture to student with necessary skills for prospective employment and make them become a useful workers.
The first reason explaining why I am in favour of the idea that schools play an integral part in teaching is that schools are the right place for socities to prepare necessary skills in working for students at the early age. In other words, students study under supervision and discipline which is important for future work, rather than preparing individual talents. For example, many schools nowadays focus on training career-oriented subjects like information technology, business, and so on instead of wasting much time on sports subjects
Another reason which I believe to be absolutely pivotal is the fact that schools take responsibity in teaching proper civil behaviour. For more detals, this can reduce criminal rate and the world is more peaceful and civilzed. For instance, in developed countries such as America or Japan, authorities force schools to take curriculum which is contained morality. This action leads to shortage of negative behaviour in socities and the country would be economically developed. Without teaching students how to be helpful civilians, there would be a huge problems in society
In conclusion, although there are some benefits from benefitting childrent as individuals, it seems to me that the disadvantages outweight the brightsides. Therefore, schools should have social subjects or extra-curricular activities which make students more confident to accept modern world.
