The table below shows the figures (in thousand) for imprisonment in five countries between 1930 and 1980.
Write a report for a university, lecturer describing the information shown below.The bar chart compares the differences in imprisonment rates in thousand in five countries within 5 decades from 1930 to 1980.
It is clear that while the figures for imprisonment in Canada and New Zealand decreased dramatically, those of other countries increased substantially.
In 1930, 120 imprisonment cases happened in Canada, which was the highest number compared to other countries. In contrast, the imprisonment number in Great Britain was only over 20. The figures for Australia and New Zealand was the same at exactly 100, which was nearly 40 higher than that of Austrlia.However, United States’ figure increased by 25 surpassing that of Canada, which declined slightly to over 100 in 1940. Although New Zealand and Australia were similar in terms of massive decrease, which both reached to around 50, imprisonment figure for Great Britain remained stable.
In the next 3 decades, Though there was a massive rise in imprisonment rates witnessed in the countries of Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand, which all reached to the remarkable of 60, the two other countries showed an downward trend, standing around 90. In 1980 Imprisonment rate in United States skyrocketted to its highest of nearly 140. The same goes for Great Britain, New Zealand and Canada, reaching their peaks of approximately 80. In contrast, Australia’s figure plummetted to a negligible of above 40.Attachments:
