Some people say international sports event help world peace. Do you agree or disagree?
These days, a growing number of people are concerned about sporting events in the world. While it is thought by some to be international sporting occasions assisting peace, I believe that the influence is not great as people think.
It is undeniable that international sporting occasions such as the Football world cup, Olympic games not only bring pleasures and honor but also bring people together. These events attract people in many parts of the world by intersting competitions and performance of the best professional athletes. When people have similar regards or hobbies, they forget or reduce other discomfortable emotions about conflicts existing during countries or areas to enjoy or celebrate together. However, they are temporary situations, not taking long because the events usually hold for several weeks.
In addition, the history of human sport has seen many tensions happening between teams and fans of opposing teams. Hooligan football in the United Kingdom is a good examble for causing more pressure from football matches. There may be no eveidence to prove relationship between international sport events and global peace. To illustrate, during the World war I and II, no sporting game was held. Considering reasons for happening wars or tensions related to nations and regions, they might derive from politics, economy and other major conflicts such as land use or exploiting oil. Therefore, using sporting games in the global as a solution for decreasing pressure a impractical way.
