Some people think that it is best to live in a horizontal city while others think of a vertical city. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
People have differing views with regard to choosing to settle in a horizontal city or a vertical city. In my opinion, whereas a city with low-rise buildings have some advantages, I believe that dwelling in high-rise constructions is a better option.
On the one hand, living in a horizontal city has several benefits. Firstly, in the past, inhabitants do not settle in high skyscrapers, so low-rise constructions contribute greatly to cultural preservation. Secondly, people who do not live high off the ground barely have to encounter issues in terms of security, and they are not as vulnerable as settlers in high buildings. For example, in countries that are at risk of frequent earthquakes, those living in low buildings are more likely to survive in the disaster. Thirdly, they are required to pay less for the construction, maintenance, or extra fees, thanks to which they are allowed to concentrate on their basic needs, having their offspring well nurtured.
However, I am of the belief that high constructions might offer more advantages. First, with the world’s population rapidly growing, vertical cites would allocate far less land to the building of the residential areas, and this could pave the way for more services. In other words, residents are able to enjoy modern shopping malls, academic institutions, and playgrounds without leaving the street where they live, their standard of life raised and the economy significantly boosted. Also, if people efficiently make use of a small land area, they would be able to address the issue of soil contamination. Moreover, dwelling in vast numbers in that area would enable the authority to supervise and take care of its citizens much better.
In conclusion; while settling in low-rise constructions has several benefits. I believe vertical cities are more livable.
