The column graph illustrates the different reasons of soil deterioration in four regions around the world. In general, while Africa and Asia are the main culprits of this phenomenon, Australia and Europe are always more eco-friendly.
The most serious vandalism among all main reasons is the raising cattle in Africa, which makes 500 million hectares of land become useless. Likewise, this action are also taken by other areas with a slighter degree. Whereas the investigation documents that 380 million hectares are destroyed by Asia, Australia and Europe are responsible for approximately 220 and 120 million hectares respectively.
When it comes to cutting down trees, Asia overtakes Africa to become the major destroyer, with over 450 million hectares damaged, which is the largest figure of this sector. Besides, Africa contributes to deteriorating 380 million hectares while Australia and Europe continue to take the least number, with 100 million hectares equally.
In terms of farming, this activity has a similar trend to tree-cutting, but the figure is different. The research records that Asia and Africa are still the main regions destroying land, with 430 million hectares by the former and 300 million hectares by the latter. In contrast, Australia and Europe do many more environmentally-friendly cropping activities, only about 60 and 80 million hectares are devalued respectively, which are the smallest numbers of these sectors.
