2. The graph below gives information about car ownership in Britain from 1971 to 2007.
The line graph illustrates the proportion of cars that are owned by Great Britain citizens during a span of 36 years starting from 1971 to 2007.
Overall, there were upward trends in the percentage of inhabitants owning 2 cars and 3 and more cars compared to a downward trend found in no car ownership. Whilst, the proportion of one car’s owner remain steady over the surveyed period.
As can be seen from the line graph, in 1971, around 50% Britain citizens do not have their own car. Whilst, owner of one car occupied approximately 45%. By contrast, only 8% residents in Great Britain owned couple cars and three and more cars ownership lagged far behind with 1%.
Although at the beginning point of the period, a huge amount of citizens have no private car, there was a dramatic decrease by a half in 2007. By contrast, the percentage of people owning two cars witnessed some fluctuations during the time before increasing sharply to 27% at the end of the surveyed period. It is noticeable that there was no change in the proportion of one car ownership and it marked its dominance from 1977 to 2007. Whereas, the number of Great Britain residents increased slightly from 1% to 8% over the period.Attachments:
