The graph below shows the rate of smoking per 1000 people in Someland from 1960 to 2000.

      Answer:
The line graph compares the number of male and female smokers in Someland between 1960 and 2000.
It is clear that the rate of smoking for men was higher than that for women but the rate gap decreased over the period shown. Also, the number of men who smoke dropped, whereas the figure for women increased.
In 1960, 600 men out of 1000 people smoke, which is the highest figure in the graph. The number of male smokers decreased slightly to 500 people in 1980 and then dropped gradually during the remainder of the period, reaching a low of about 250 smokers per 1000 people at the end of the period.
In contrast, the rate of smoking among women increased dramatically during the first 15 years. It reached a peak of just over 300 smokers in 1975 and hovered around this figure during the next 15 years. By 2000, the number of female smokers had decreased steadily to exactly 200 smokers per 1000 people, which was slightly lower than the figure for male smoking rate.
