The maps below show how the town of Harborne changes from 1936 to 2007
The map illustrates the differences in the town of Harborne after a 71-year period from 1936 to 2007.
Overall, some natural features in the land were demolished or upgraded for the appearance of urbanization. More options for shopping were built for the local residents in 2007.
It can be seen from the north that 2 out 3 trees were cut down, leaving more space in the northwest of the map. Meanwhile, in the northeast, a residential area was built on the land which used to have a long river in 1936. The post office stood in the same place where it did 71 years ago. However, two buildings next to it including the bakery shop and butcher were replaced by a supermarket.
Moving from the north to the south of the map, the cycle path was converted into a new road. A museum was built adjacent to the golf course, replacing government offices and farm land in 1936. Flower shop was also demolished for a travel agent to appear in 2007. Moreover, the blank space in the middle of the map was covered up by a shopping center. However, the bank and library remained unchanged after a 71-year period despite several changes in the locality.
