The table and pie chart illustrate how many students doing research in Australian universities between 2001 and 2010. It can be seen from the table that the number of students occupied highest in 2010. Besides, as for pie charts, the percentage of local research students, female and male students increased rapidly, whereas the figure for others dropped slightly in the mentioned period.
In terms of table, there was a substantial growth in the number of local students, which rose from roughly 34000 students in 2001 to nearly 40000 students nine years later. Similarly, in the same period, the figure for international research students increased sharply from 5192 cases to around 15000. Finally, the result of total students between 2001 and 2010 saw a significant soar from 38849 students to 54081 students.
The pie chart shown that there were respective upward rates in the proportion of international students and male, female international students in 2001 and 2010 from 13% to over a quarter, 9% to 12% and around one in twenty to less than one-fifth. In contrast, the proportion of local students, local male and female students decreased in the given time, starting at nearly 90% to just over 70%, more than two-fifth to 39% and 43% to 35% respectively.
