The bar chart compares the differences in four types of transport used for commuting purpose in one European city from 1960 to 2000.
It is clear that while travelers using car skyrocketed, those using bike and going on foot decreased dramatically.
Car was the least commonly-used type of transport at the beginning of the period. Its figure stood at 5% and saw a massive increase by 30%, reaching to 35% in the two following decades. Additionally, the percentage of individuals commuting by bus rose remarkably to 25% in 1980, an increase of 10%. However, it declined considerably to its initial figure of nearly 15% at the end of the period.
The proportion of travellers using bike and going on foot both reached its lowest point at the end of the time phase. Although going on foot was by far most preferred by commutors whose figure stood at a remarkable of 35%, it witnessed a 6-fold decrease in 2000. The same goes for the percentage of bike which plummeted to 5% from its initial figure of 25%.
