Nowadays technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example, through cell phone tracking and security cameras). In many cases, the people being monitored are unaware that this is happening.
Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?Technology development vastly covers all corners of the world. One of its most favorable usage is tracking applications which give an effective hand to help people in monitoring someone or something remotely. These apps; however, also brings about some offences against its effect on privacy rights. This paper will consider more on both benefits and drawbacks of these controversial apps.
On one hand, monitoring system plays an important role in dealing with criminals. Without extracting information from security cameras, for example, it is very hard for police in order to detect and convince who commit the crimes. Phone tracking, additionally, is another useful tool, which has been seeing an increase in the number of people downloading it, that help the parents follow their kids’ tracks, know exactly where they are, whether they are at school or play a truant in somewhere else. Therefore, a timely decision to redirect them to the right track is apparently thanks to the tracking innovation.
On the other hand, it appears to be biased if we don’t mention the impact of this technology to the person who is under the monitor. Take the example for parents’ tracking again, many people, involving some parents, put forward the view that being controlled in every minute could make the children, especially in the teenage age, angry with the adults because of not being respected their privacy rights and as the result, tear the parents – children relationship apart.
To sum up, despite acknowledging the advantages the technological development in tracking bring to our modern life, I personally go for the point that it has more cons than pros.Attachments:
