The line graph illustrates figure below illustrated the amount of CO2 each person discharged in four countries in the surveyed period of 40 years from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, in can be seen that three countries such as namely Sweden, Italy and Portugal were on the increase, while the United Kingdom fell slightly in the same period bewteen 1967 and 1977. Afterwards, from 1987 to 2007, Italy and Portugal rose continuously through periods, whereas the others drop steadily. => Overall, while the figures for the UK and Sweden experienced downward trend, there was a significant rise in the amount of CO2 emissions of the two remaining countries over the period surveyed. In addition, even witnessing a slight decrease, the proportion of the UK was still the highest.
In the first period from 1967 to 1977, the CO2 emission in United Kingdom decreased slightly from around 11 tonnes to 10.5 tonnes, which was higher than that of Italy and Portugal, with 6.5 and 2.5 tonnes, respectively. However, there was a significant rise in amount of CO2 released of Sweden, Italy and Portugal with to 10, 6.5 and 2 tonnes respectively. 7.5 and 5 tonnes.
By contrast, the United Kingdom amount of CO2 that one person in the UK released continually to drop to 9.5 tonnes gradually, compared to the same period from 1977 to in 2007 1997 while the figures for Italy and Portugal remained stable since 1997 on, at around 8 and 6 respectively.. This proved that solutions to reduce CO2 in United Kingdom was more effetive than both nations.
Except for the first ten years, Sweden is also cut down partly the emission of CO2. It could be seen that it plummeted considerably from 10.5 to 7 tonnes. Likewise, United Kingdom just only dropped by 1 tonnes in the second period between 1977 and 1987. In addition, Sweden’s CO2 emission fell to the lowest point at around 5.7 tonnes 7 tonnes in 2007, while Italy remained stable and Portugal jumped slightly, with 7.5 and 5 tonnes.
