Some people claim that public museums and art galleries will not be needed because
people can see historical objects and works of art by using a computer. Do you agree or
disagree with this opinion?Over the past few decades, the advent of the Internet has gradually replaced our real society. For this reason, some adopt a view that artistic exhibition places are no longer necessary because modern citizens can explore the world by sitting in front of a screen. From my perspective, traditional museums still play an important role in preserving cultures.
On the on hand, it is essential to recognize that hi-tech devices facilitate learning art and history. In terms of costs, this way is compatible and affordable with almost all people who want to watch works of art without travelling expenses. Thanks to the proliferation of the Internet, a multitude of artworks around our planet are easily found with the click of a mouse. Not only is this armchair tour significantly cheaper than real ones, but it is also convenient for workaholics who desire to witness an array of popular pictures from different countries in one day.
On the other hand, I believe that on-site visits are irreplaceable and unchangeable notwithstanding the convenience of state-of-the-art technology. The feelings of touching historial objects and the smells of asmostphere in these galleries are not easily achieved through inanimate images on a computer. Such experiences attract both inbound and outbound tourists to visit famous museums and art galleries where they can exchange their knowledge about various cultures and civilizations. Consequently, it is also a good channel to make more friends who can share the same hobbies. For instance, many travellers usually swarm into Louvre museum in Paris to watch and discuss the smile of Mona Lisa.
In conclusion, although online tours to public museums and art halls are time-saving and economical, watching eminent works of art by our own eyes brings much bigger values.
