Museums and art galleries should concentrate on works that show history and culture of their own country rather than works of the other parts in the world. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Modern museums and art galleries are known as popular places for local and international people to understand deeply about history and tradition of a certain country. The question as to whether or not museums should focus on global culture is a matter for disagreement. In my opinion, it depends on the type of museum.
With regard to governmental – funded museums, it is worthwhile to focus on displaying long-lasting tradition and custom of a particular country. This plays an irreplaceable role in attracting a massive influx of tourists as it helps them understand deeply about history of a nation. For example, Vietnam national museum is the best choice for those people who tend to be aware fully of distinct cultural values of Vietnam. However, assuming that such museums display both global history and Vietnamese culture, tourists find it easy to disrupt the flow of unique experience. In addition, showing culture of a specific country is an effective way to export the unique image of Vietnamese to worldwide and also assist to increase the revenue in the sector of service. Owing to the above reasons, governmental backed museums or galleries promote people to get immerse in a local cultural atmosphere for better overall.
Nevertheless, other types of museums have particular missions which are to open up outside cultures to local people and promote inhabitants to become global citizens. This is instrumental because we are living in the world of globalization and integrating into economic growth. For instance, international galleries are served as ideal places for cross-border cultural learning. They will give locals a better understanding of world heritage and artifacts.
In conclusion, I am in favour of the opinion that there is a wide range of museums, each of which has specific missions. While public museums should make an emphasis on showing national culture, the others tend to show off global history stages.Please kindly check!
