Chữa bài IELTS Task 2
We have been living in the nuclear age now for over half a century. Since the first
atomic bombs were developed, nuclear technology has provided governments with the ability to totally destroy the planet. Yet the technology has been put to positive use as an energy source and in certain areas of medicine.
To what extent is nuclear technology a danger to life on Earth? What are the
benefits and risks associated with its use?The use of nuclear technology has been the subject of great debate in recent years. This essay will discuss both the positive applications and the dangers of this technology.
Nuclear technology plays an important role in the development of many countries in the world because of its various advantages. The biggest benefit that I would mention is the generation of electricity through nuclear energy. This energy is a clean, reliable and competitive energy source. Using the nuclear energy replacing a significant part of the fossil fuels (coal and oil) will reduces the greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 and others) which is the main reason of global warming and global climate change. Medical sciences are another domain where nuclear technology can be used to cure patients. In developed countries, about one person in fifty uses diagnostic nuclear medicine each year, and the frequency of treatment with radioisotopes is about one tenth of this. Moreover, nuclear technology has influenced in the broad field of agriculture such as increasing food processing and improving food processing. Many farmers have found its benefit in reducing the amount of fertilizer they use in producing large yields. In the USA, the U.S Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of irradiation for processing of fruits, vegetables, pork and red meat.
Although there are many advantages, the studies and real life show that nuclear technology brings many disadvantages. Some of the nuclear countries, nuclear energy has given them the power to produce more weapons than to produce things that can make the world a better place to live in. We have to become more careful and responsible while using nuclear energy to avoid any sort of major accidents. Because nuclear accidents can spread radiation producing particles over a wide area. This radiation harms the cells of the body which can make humans sick or even cause death. Illness can appear or strike people years after they were exposed to nuclear radiation and genetic problems can occur too.
In conclusion, nuclear technology certainly has positive uses, it is, however, very dangerous. From my perspective, in order to live in a peace and safe world, all the nuclear nations should agree to disarm as soon as possible.Attachments:
