The diagram below shows the production of electricity using a system called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC).

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a sophisticated system involving energy conversion by manipulating water temperature differences on distinct sea depths, which could reach to 1000 meters deep from the ocean surface. This modern system produces electricity and drinking water for use.
At the beginning of the process, surface sea water is heated by solar energy to be converted into water vapour. It is then collected and introduced into the Evacuated evaporation chamber for another process happened here. The saltless water vapor flies up, which then powers the electricity-generating turbine and creates electricity. Water vapor isn’t wasted there because it will be transferred into a condensing chamber which is located 1000 meters below the ocean surface. At here, the cold temperature of the deep water will condense the water vapor into pure water which is used for drinking. However, the salt extracted from the hot water vapor is mix with the cold sea water stream which condense the water vapor in the condensing chamber and travels back into the ocean.
This modern technological system is very useful when producing electricity and drinking water, which can be used as an alternate energy source for coal and oil fuel.
