It is difficult for people living in cities today get enough physical exercise.
What are the causes? What can be done to solve the problem?
Over the past few decades, the well-being of society has been enhancing in leaps and bounds. However, some adopt a view that city dwellers cannot have healthy life due to the lack of physical excercise. From my perspective, hectic pace of modern life and substandard living environment are the roots, thereby requiring some proactive measures from both individuals and governments.
Firstly, it is essential to recognize that our society has been becoming highly competitive in recent years, especially in big cities. In order to have a decent job in such metropolises, citizens have to make their best effort from studying well to accumulating experience and improving their soft skills. Besides, overwork usually steals their leisure time, which should be better spent on outdour activities. The second reason has contributed to the gravity of this phenomenon is that living space and public infrustructure are unacceptable in some megacities. As a result of overpopulation, the demand for housing is excessively increasing, leading to the inadequacy of space for public parks and squares, which are the suitable and affordable places for daily excercie.
At the heart of the matter, modern citizens should achieve a good balance between career and health. Notwithstand battles of work, they need to arrange their time plausibly and sufficiently for physical excercise. In terms of living standard, resources reallocation should be made from state officals to alliviate the status of overcrowding megalopolises. The large number of inhabitants from those big cities should move to suburbans, paving the way for collective walking streets and fitness areas, which facilitates outside activities of citizens after hard working days.
In conclusion, the rat race in large cities and their space shortages are the main culprits of the excercise insufficency. Only pooling city occupants and local authorities’ actions can eliminate this knotty problem for them to enjoy sounder and healthier life.
