The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English in 2000 and 2010.Answer:
The pie charts compare the proportion of students at an England university who could speak foreign languages besides English in two years, 2000 and 2010.
Overall, it is noticeable that the vast majority of British students in this university were able to speak at least one foreign language, as well as English. Additionally, Spanish was the most widely spoken second language in both years.
In 2000, the percentage of students who could speak Spanish was highest, at 30%, while the figure for those who were not able to speak any foreign language was two third of that amount. At the same time, the proportion of those who were able to speak German and two languages besides English was similar, at 10%. Likewise, 15% of total students could speak French, which was exactly the same as the rate for another language.
In 2010, the proportion of students speaking Spanish increased slightly to 35%, whereas the percentage figure for German speakers remained unchanged, at 20%. In contrast, there were decreases of 10% and 5% of students who could speak only English and French respectively. Finally, the figures for students speaking another language and two other languages both went up by 5%.Attachments:
