Is it more important for governments to spend public funds on promoting a healthy lifestyle than treatment. Do you agree or disagree?
It is true that how to use government funding appropriately is a major concern in many countries. Personally, I disagree with the idea that more money should be spent on encouraging people to live healthily than providing treatments, because I believe that both of them are equally essential to receive public funding.
On the one hand, I accept that spending public funds on promoting healthy habits is necessary. Firstly, such funding can raise people’s awareness of the importance of doing exercise, which is vital in maintaining a healthy body. In this way, regular physical activities such as walking and sports can help prevent a wide range of health problems and concerns brought by a sedentary lifestyle. Secondly, this government spending has a significant role to play in advertising a balanced and healthy diet to local people and encouraging them to avoid convenience foods which often contain too much fat and sugar. Therefore, this way of using funds can reduce the risk of some common diseases in society like obesity or diabetes.
On the other hand, I believe that medical treatments should be financially supported by governments. As a matter of fact, there are various types of injuries which cannot be prevented by diet routine or daily exercises. By the way of illustration, broken bones, burns and scalds caused by unexpected accidents require special treatments like bone immobilization and skin transplant surgery. Those kinds of medical care often demand expensive facilities to ensure a high-quality cure. That’s why government should spend money on modern equipments and medical technology transfer to provide local patients practical advantages.
In conclusion, for reasons mentioned above, I believe that governments should spend as much budget on treatment as they do on healthy lifestyle advertisement.Attachments:
