Some people think that schools should reward students who show the best academic results, while others believe that it is more important to reward students who show improvement. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is true that the question of whether to reward students with exellent academic results or those showing great improvement remains a source of controversy. While a number of people belive that only students achieving the highest mark desert awards, I would argue that school should also praise student achieving good improvement.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why school should award students who have best academic performance. Firstly, because every school student desire to award prizes, which would create highly competitive studying environment. As a result, student could be encouraged to pur their effort into studying for highest grade. Moreover, students gaining excellent performance would be admired by classmates and would be given opportunities in order to nurture their abilities. For example, in my secondary school, students having the highest grade in their class were selected for extra class to take them to national competition.
On the other hand, school should also give rewards to students obtaning great development. Firstly, because of improvement’s recognizing, students have equal chance to receive rewards, rather than only focus on the highest achievers. This allows them to be motivated to try hard. Secondly, due to studying without being forced by academic results, school students would promote learning for enjoyment and understanding without under pressure too much. This reduces healthy problems such as mental.
In conclusion, although rewarding students who have exellent academic results are have advantages to some extents, it seems to me that schools should also award student gaining good improvement.
