It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behavior to children.
Telling children right from wrong has always been a challenging work as this depends much on whether or not they reach reasonable age. Many people strongly believe that the sooner children aware the dissemblance between right and wrong, the better they are and that punishments would be an indispensable element in educating them to acknowledge unacceptable behaviours. In my opinion, however, I do not agree with this viewpoint.
It is true that teaching a child how to distinguish right and wrong at the early age is positively influential in personality of children in the long run but only if they reach reasonable age, they have sufficient awareness. Disciplining a very young child leads to disastrous results such as mental vulnerability. I have witnessed a lot of chid have to get treatment owing to suffering extremely harsh punishment. In addition, insufficient cognitive development results in the fact that they do not get a grasp of reason why they are imposed the sanction. Consequently, they tend to keep full of pent-up anger for a long time.
In order to assist a child to have better future behaviour, the adults could use a wealth of methods to fine such as detention, withdrawal of privileges and time-out. Above all, physical nature should not be a sanction as this unintentionally sends a message that it is appropriate that larger people are entitled to hit smaller ones. Hence, he is likely to do violent deeds or even cause serious injuries for others at the school.
In conclusion, it is necessary for parents and teachers to educate a child the disparity between right and wrong once the age of reason is reached. Over and above, punishment must be considered carefully, otherwise, it could make a negative influence on children.

        Dear learner,

        Thank you for your query.

In terms of your specific questions:
        – “socialise” or its noun “socialisation” refers to the process of delivering values and norms that are considered appropriate in a society or community. So when talking about right and wrong, moral values are obviously being articulated. Therefore, a more advanced academic word that has a more social implication rather than academic (educational) term that is performed by schools is “socialise” or “socialisation” as a noun.

        – I did suggest that it is better to use “recognise/detect” – which are both understood as the awareness of something. Whereas “acknowledge” means “to admit”, such as “I acknowledge my mistakes in the event” or “His contributions should be acknowledged by the public”.”.

        – Yes – “make (an) impact” is a totally accurate collocation.

Hopefully such explanations have answered your queries, to any extent.

Best wishes to your academic pursuit – you have been exceptionally hard-working and very upbeat in your learning!

        Kind regards,

        IELTS Planet.
