The tables below give information about sales of Fairtrade*-labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries.

The two tables illustrate the figures of fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five different countries between 1999 to 2004

It can be clearly seen that the UK was the longest market for fairtrade-labelled coffee while the total bananas sales data of Switzerland had almost three times of the total bananas sales figures of other countries in 1999.

There was significantly change in the amount of coffee sales in UK, which increased dramatically from 1,5 Euro millions to 20 Euro millions. In Denmark and Swedend, the sales figures went up slightly in 2004 at 2 Euro millions and 1 Euro millions, respectively. Generally, the coffee sales data of all countries grew in the whole 5 year period.

On the other hand, Switzeland was the biggest bananas market from 1999 to 2004, which climbed rapidly at 47 Euro millions in 2004. Similarly, the bananas sales in the UK market rose significantly from 1 Euro million to 5,5 Euro million after 5 year. By contrast, in Belgum and Sweden, the bananas sales was slowly decreased at 1 Euro millions and 0,9 Euro millions respectively.
