The new technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do the disadvantages outweigh the advantages?
It is common today that the latest technologies have changed the way children spend their spare time. In my opinion, although it has many huge advantages for children apparently, the throwbacks still overbalance the benefits.
On the one hand, there are some positive effects of new technologies to children obviously. One reason for this view is that technologies inspire children to broaden their knowledge by online courses, self-study on youtube, and make more friends virtually in any parts of the world. They also train their brains by intellectual games on technology devices.
On the other hand, youngster can gain variety of throwbacks from technologies, which are more significant than such benefits. Firstly, it is easy to see that technologies may make children less active. Nowadays, children are more and more interested in games or applications on devices like Dota or candy crush than outdoor activities such as folk games, swimming or badminton. It is not hard to find some children who usually focus on phone, tablet although they are even sitting inside a park. Furthermore, due to concentrating on technologies, children can be isolated with the community, so their social skills could not develop normally. Many researchers find that youngsters who use social networks tend to like replying online comments more than talking face to face, they also find hard to express their ideal directly. In the results of being less active and holding some postures in a long time while using technologies, children can get many health problems easily. Take obesity, kyphosis and short-sightedless, for example.
