School should not force children to learn a foreign language. To what extent do you agree with this statement?
Many people have different views about forcing children to learn a foreign language as one of the compulsory subjects at school. While I believe that it is useful for schoolchildren to study a foreign language, I agree that they should not be forced to do so.
On the one hand, there are a variety of benefits when children are approached to a foreign language during their school years. Firstly, through studying a language, children will learn about the culture and people of that country. Some parents even paid for their children to attend summer trips in the foreign countries so that their kids can be immersed themselves in languages which they are learning. Secondly, children should learn second language like the way to broaden their knowledge and horizon. For example, if they are studying in English, they can entry websites which are only available in English on any topic in which they are interested. Finally, learning foreign languages gives youngster countless opportunities to discover friends with the same interests in any part of the world.
On the other hand, I believe that it would counterproductive to oblige students to learn another language at school. One reason is that schoolchildren have to focus on other important subjects in their curriculum such as Math, Literature and science rather than learning a new language. If they are forced to do so, they do not have a passion or motivation to learn effectively. Moreover, compulsion will lead a reluctant attitude for kids in their acquisition of languages. Therefore, the school should encourage and creates a hilarious studying environment for children. This is only achieved through enthusiastic teachers who select stimulating language-learning activities.
In conclusion, although learning another language brings many benefits for students, it seems to me that it is better to give encouragement, not compel to learn one.Feedback của bạn. Keep up the hard work!
