Chữa bài IELTS Task 2
Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely . Discuss both these views and give your own opinions
Over the past few decades, science and technology have been fostered in leaps and bounds, contributing to the prosperity of many countries around the world. Some adopt a view that such know-how should be shared among nations for the sake of mutual-progress while I would like to make a case for the value of intellectual properties.
On the one hand, it is essential to recognize that co-operation is always a win-win proposal for countries. Undeniably, technology transfer can bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots. In some under-developed nations, their governments do not have enough money and resources to develop new software and infrastructure, which are necessary for life and industrial production. If such countries have the opportunity to receive novel contrivances at a low price, they will easily boost their economy. A typical example of merits of this case is that some European developed countries often support their poor neighbors to eliminate the status of highly increasing migration. Not only is it beneficial for the recipients, but the givers also have some certain benefits.
On the other hand, notwithstanding aforementioned advantages, I believe that this idea has some problems that need our thorough consideration. Firstly, innovations usually require a large amount of state-owned budget and human resources, so it is paradoxical to distribute them to others freely. As a result of intellectual property right, every nation should pay for the products of their counterparts. Franchise of KFC chains, which is popular these days, is the good illustration for this phenomenon. Secondly, freely sharing information will turn recipients into dependents because they may lack motivations to spontaneously push the limits. In the long run, such nations will fall behind the rest in the absence of other hands.
In conclusion, I recommend that rich countries should only cheaply share their scientific research and other achievements to poor ones in the short term.Attachments:
