Some people think that social skills are as important as academic qualifications. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Task
It is undeniable that working enviroment has been increasingly competitive. Nowadays, professional skills are not enough to meet the needs of employers. Some social skills are certainly required to assure that employees can perform their tasks effectively. Personally, I total agree with this opinion as the following grounds.
To begin with, academic qualification is the prerequisite that some certain professions acquire. Taking doctors or scientists as examples, people who want to follow these careers need a long and careful training process. A university degree could demonstrate their academic background as well as professional experiences. Therefore, many employers require job-hunting candidates to possess a certain qualification, which can help them evaluate applicants’ professional skills during the period attending at university. In brief, an academic degree is still important standard to recruit qualified employees.
On the other hand, it is apparent that having solf skills would be crucial keys to achieve success easier. With the competitive job market, recruiters always want to own best staffs. Hence, there have many candidates for a vacancy. Obviously, applicants who have more social skills would be advantageous to enhance their employment opportunities. Futhermore, a soft-skilled person would know how to cooperate well with their colleagues to obtain the most effective productivity and bring the most beneficial to their company. By contrast, people who are unable to get along with their co-workers would suffer from stress because of isolation no matter how excellent they are. Moreover, socila skills can help employees expand their relationships. Due to that, they would have more opportuinities to be successful and get promotion faster.
In conclusion, success would not come to people who just have only academic qualification. With the fast developed society, social skills are also essential to help employees integrate themselves into working environment.
