Some people think that men and women have different quality. Therefore, some certain jobs are suitable for men and some jobs are suitable for women. To what do you agree or disagree?
It is true that some people believe that men and women are born with distinct individual characteristics which determine what jobs compatible for them. While there were strong arguments to justify this view, I believe that this is outdated outlook to apply it to the world of work today.
On the one hand, both males and females have quite a separate set of characteristics which enable them to perform their tasks well. As for women, it is argued that they are not enough physical strength to work manually such as on construction sites, truck drivers, or even participating in the army which were once regarded work’s men. Besides they are loving, meticulous and kind-hearted, so they good at taking care of the household activities and do the child rearing. Therefore, women were considered to be more caring and sensitive than men, they tended to enter professions which relates to nursing or the care of children or elderly. Likewise, men possess special trials like strength, self-confidence which qualify them as a breadwinner and make important decisions for the whole family. For example, men are more likely easier to be directors or promotion than women due to they devote much of their time and work under stressful and pressure while this is limited to women.
On the other hand, I believe that there is no room for outdated outlook when assess the capabilities of men and women in the modern workplace. Firstly, men and women should enjoy equal opportunities in all careers. Today, women have pursued tertiary education and gained higher qualifications which help them to enter the labor market and chase the top jobs like their male counterparts. If they work hard, they will have more chance to reach the top in their chosen field. Secondly, in modern life, the role of family members has brought about a number of significant changes. Some male parents are in charge of children while their spouse might be busy with her business. They do all chores as a housewife including cooking, cleaning up, do the washing better than their wife. This has broken traditional barriers, which effectively prevented men and women from doing certain jobs in the past.
In conclusion, it seems to me that sex discrimination has discouraged women to take part in certain areas. Therefore, there is no room today for traditional stereotype of a woman- doing household or children rearing. Women should be cherish and enjoy the jobs opportunities like their counterparts.
