Some people think that university students should only study one special subject. Others think that universities should encourage students to study a range of subjects in addition to a special area. Discuss both these view and give your opinion.
One of the highly controversial issues today relates to whether pupils should be only educated in unique major or taught a plenty of other subjects. In this essay, I am going to examine this question from both points of view and then give my own opinion on the matter.
On one side of the argument there are people who argue that the benefits of focusing on academic subjects considerably outweigh advantages of learning other subjects which do not relate with the student’s major. The main reason for believing this is that advanced subject bring pupils more academic knowledge and career skills. It is also possible to say that university students might learn actively disciplines which they will apply on their work in the future. One good illustration of this is an artistic student may be interested in spending most time practicing her artistic ability instead of wasting her time educating some science subjects.
On the other hand, it is also possible to make the opposing case. It is often argued that in fact various subjects may help students improve their career prospects. People often have this opinion because most companies often have priority over graduates who have more social knowledge and skills than an employee studying one special field in these days.
In my opinion, both arguments have their merits. On balance, however, I tend to believe that learners should study different types of subjects, therefore, they will not only improve their learning skill but also find supreme outcomes in their lives.Attachments:
