Chữa bài IELTS Task 2
Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe that they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. These days, a growing number of people are concerned about subjects in universities. While some people believe that it is better to force students to study in certain subject areas, I would argue that students should choose to study whatever they want to bring more benefits for them and society.
To begin with, there are some various reasons why individuals prefer to obligate students in certain university subjects. One of the root causes is that several qualifications related to science and technology would rather than art or history degrees by their practical advantages. It is true that qualifications such as medicine, construction, information technology might bring more job opportunities, career ladders and better salaries for graduates, which secure their quality of life in the future, especially in the competitive job markets nowadays. In addition, focusing on subjects related to hot careers help to fill up knowledge and skill gaps for societies in order to boost the growth of economy and improvement of life quality.
However, it seems to me that students are free to select any subject to develop their ability the best. Scientific researches have shown that students could perform better their study when they are able to learn what they love. This is because their motivation and passion with the subjects help them to spend more time and effort for studying. That is the reason why many universities give optional courses for students to choose in curriculum. Besides, If many parts of students study science and technology, other important subjects related to develop people’s art and spirit such as history, literature or painting will be ignored, which lead to imbalance of art and social comprehensive for students. Furthermore, it is unable to predict which areas are useful for society in the future, and employers tend to focus on critical thinking, creative skills more than technical and practical skills. Therefore, let students are free in choosing subjects is a good solution.
In conclusion, although there are some advantages of forcing subjects for student to study, I believe that it is better to have free selection of subjects to boost students’ results.Attachments:
