The line graph compares the rates of different types of crimes in Newport
inner city between 2003 and 2012
Overall, while the numbers of incidents caused by burglaries car thefts all
decreased, the figure for robberies remained constant. At the same time,
the rate of robbery crime experienced the most dramatic change.
In 2003, approximately 600 incidents took place in Newport city, which was
the lowest rate, compared to nearly 2800 car stealing offences. Meanwhile,
there were less than 3500 incidents committed by burglaries. In the year of
2008, the number of robbery crimes slightly went down to exactly 500
incidents. There was a remarkable fall of 300 incidents to 2500 incidents,
whereas the quantity of burglary incidents reached the lowest point of just
over 1000.
In 2012, the city saw a gradual climb in the number of burglaries crimes,
at roughly 2700 incidents. Meanwhile, there were fewer than 1500 and just
