The given graphs illustrate changes on immigration, emigration and net immigration in Britain from 1999 to 2008.

Overall, both immigration and emigration rate experienced an increase over 10-year period, yet the number of people immigrating to England was significant higher. In addition, the net immigration reached a peak in 2004

As can be seen from the chart, it is noticeable that in 1999 the number of British immigrating was approximately 450,000 which was dramatic more than the figure for emigration with 300,000. Afterwards, in the next ten years, the rate of immigration rose by around 150,000 to nearly 600,000 in 2008, which still remained high compared to that of emigration. Similarly, there is a slight growth in terms of emigration to reach its peak of 420,000 after experiencing a fluctuation from 2004 to 2008

When it comes to the bar chart, another remarkable point is that in 1999 the net immigration was under 200,000, followed by a rise to reach the highest point of 250,000 in 2004. Subsequently, this figure witnessed a gradual decline to nearly 170,000 at the end of period surveyed.
