There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?
Music has been diversified into multiple genres in modern days. This essay will suggest that music is a necessary part of individuals’ lives as it helps them relax after work or study, and the traditional music of a nation takes no precedence over the one that is streamed worldwide because only music that is good matters.People have to listen to music every day because it brings relaxation and energizes their minds and bodies after a long day of working or studying. Science has proved that human brains do not consume energy from their bodies when listening to music; instead, they will be transformed into an inactive state by music melodies and start to release stress and tension. As a result, people will become more prepared and ready for their upcoming work or assignments. For example, a survey in Ho Chi Minh City showed that office workers who listened to music songs at lunch had better productivity in the afternoon shift.
However, a country’s traditional music has no greater importance compared to international music because it is the quality of a song that matters regardless of any types. That is to say, just because a song was composed in a traditional way, it does not mean that its melody is easy and relaxed to hear. By contrast, it may disturb listeners and reduce their effectiveness. For instance, young students in Vietnam agree that cai luong, which is a popular Vietnamese conventional music type, is extremely irritating to listen to and it distracts them from concentrating on their studying.
In conclusion, music indeed plays an important role in humans’ lives as people need it to get refresh after work or study, and there is no comparison between the traditional music and the international music.
