The bar charts illustrate differences in age structures of French and Indian citizens in the year 1984.
Overall, India had a younger population than France. In addition, while India was relatively equal in numbers of males and females , in France the figure of females was higher than males in all age brackets.
In France, percentages of inhabitants in each 5-year age bracket from 0-40 were equal at around 7.5%. Simultaneously, there was about 6% of French citizens in each age-agroup which was in the range of 45-65 years old. By contrast, children under 5 years old in India accounted for roughly 14% of the population. The proportion of each age group after 0-5 years was approximately 0.5% to 1% less than the youger group right before it. Approximately 2% of people in India aged over 70, while the figure in France was around 12% with roughly the average of 3% in each bracket.
Regarding the variation between the number of females and males, the age structure in India was fairly symmetrical. Nevertheless, the figure for French females aged over 50 was slightly higher than males at around 0.5%.
