Overall, handheld games were by far the most popular computerized games among the 4 types. Revenues from product groups rose continually during the time, except for console games.
In 2000, sales of console games and handheld games were 6 billions dollars and close to 12 billions dollars, respectively. While income from handheld games stably increased during the period of 7 years to reach its peak of 18 billions dollars by 2006, the figure for console games fell down gradually to around 3 billions dollars by 2006.
A surge was witnessed in sales of online games from only 1 billion dollars in 2001 to roughly 10 billions dollars in 2006. Sharing the same trend, approximately 7 billions dollars originated from mobile games in 2006, a considerable growth of 5 billions dollars compared with the beginning level.
