Task 1: A survey conducted for the places in which people gain access to the internet from 1998 to 2004
The bar chart compares four different locations in terms of the percentage of users connecting to the Internet between 1998 and 2004.
Overall, there was a stable maintenance in the proportion of people accessing the Internet from their houses and library, while a downward trend in the figures for access at work and college was recorded. Also, home was by far the most common place where people connected to the Internet.
In 1998, the highest point came to the percentage of Internet users gaining access at home, at around 54%. On the contrary, the figure for the ones who used it at the library stood at the lowest point of precisely 10%. Internet access at work achieved 27% of users, ahead of that at college with 20%.
2004 saw a slight increase in the proportion of people using the Internet at home from approximately 54% to 55%, after declining by 8% in 2000. On the other hand, there was a significant and small decrease in the rate for access at work and college by 18% and 2% respectively, over the period of 6 years. Getting access to the Internet in the library rose to around 15% in 2000 and then dipped slightly in 2002, where it continued to remain throughout 2004.Attachments:
