A glance at the bar chart provided reveals the six different Gulf countries birth rates during the period from 1990 to 2000. It is evident that six countries saw considerable declines in fertility, with highs in 1990 and lows in 2000.

In 1990, the fertility rate for women in Oman was highest in 1990, around 7, while the figure for women in S. Arabia was slightly lower, approximately 6.8. When it came to the low fertility rate group, UAE and Qatar were recorded the same rate around 4. Meanwhile, Bahrain and Kuwait had lowest fertility rates, with around 3.7.

In 2000, the figures for Oman and S. Arabia declined considerably to approximately 5.5 and remained the highest figure compared to other countries. Qatar’s birth rate then saw a noticeably decrease to 3.2 in the same period while the UEA then slipped to a low of just 2.9. In the same time, the numbers of childbirth in Bahrain and Kuwait experienced a significant fall and reached the lowest point of approximately 2.5 in Bahrain.
